OTTAWA: Canadians are set to receive a cluster of federal benefit payments in June and July 2026, with the summer schedule marked by a one-time June payment and the July launch of a renamed federal credit. Canada Revenue Agency payment calendars show a one-time GST/HST credit top-up on June 5, followed by the first Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit payment on July 3, as Ottawa replaces the long-running GST/HST credit with a higher-paying program for low and modest-income households.

The June 5 payment is tied to recipients who qualified for the January 2026 GST/HST credit and will amount to 50% of their total annual GST/HST credit for the July 2025 to June 2026 benefit year. Beginning in July, the new Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit keeps the same eligibility rules, payment calculation and structure as the GST/HST credit, while increasing quarterly amounts by 25% for five years under the federal transition plan.
Other Canada Revenue Agency payments continue through the period on their regular schedules. The Ontario Trillium Benefit is due on June 10 and July 10, the Canada Child Benefit on June 19 and July 20, and the Newfoundland and Labrador Disability Benefit on June 25 and July 24. The Advanced Canada Workers Benefit, which is paid three times a year, is next scheduled for July 10, adding another federal payment date early in the month.
Canada widens federal payments across programs
Service Canada is also due to issue several payments over the same stretch, including the Canada Disability Benefit on June 18 and July 16. Canada Pension Plan benefits and Old Age Security payments are scheduled for June 26 and July 29, while veteran disability pension payments are set for June 29 and July 30. The Canada Disability Benefit, which began payments in 2025, remains a monthly benefit for eligible low-income working-age persons with disabilities.
July also marks a reset point for some of the country’s largest income-tested supports. The Canada Child Benefit payment issued on July 20 will be based on 2025 tax information, after the June cycle closes out the prior benefit year. The Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit for July 2026 through June 2027 will also be calculated using 2025 tax returns, while Service Canada requires 2025 filing for continued eligibility in the Canada Disability Benefit payment period that begins in July 2026.
Programs absent from the summer schedule
The summer calendar also clarifies what will not arrive. The Canada Carbon Rebate has no June or July 2026 payment because the program closed after its final quarterly payment in April 2025. Alberta’s child and family benefit is likewise absent from the two-month window, with its next scheduled 2026 payment set for August 27. That leaves June and July shaped mainly by the GST/HST transition, regular monthly child and disability supports, and the standard end-of-month pension and veterans’ benefit deposits.
Federal guidance says payments are issued on the listed dates, though mailed cheques can take longer to arrive than direct deposits and recipients are generally told to wait five to 10 business days before contacting the relevant program. For households tracking cash flow, the busiest dates in the period are June 5, June 18 to 19, June 26 to 29, July 3, July 10, July 16, July 20, July 24 and July 29 to 30, when most major federal and related benefit payments are due – By Content Syndication Services.
